Cuma are agricultural equipment
Each consists of several farmer members who get together to make joint investments in order to buy agricultural equipment and to use it on their farms. Cuma can also hire staff to maintain or to drive these equipments.
The management of a Cuma is defined in 2 main documents :
- the statutes of agricultural cooperative societies
- the internal regulation set up by the members
As places of exchange of practices and ideas, as local economical partners with an ethic of mutual aid and solidarity, the Cuma contribute through their activities to the balance between the development of men, production and territory.

A nationwide network to promote and develop the Cuma
The federative network:
- represents the Cuma with local and national authorities,
- provides advice about collective organization, as well as technical, economical and legal help,
- produces technical references (cost price guides,…),
- anticipates and encourages new cooperative projects in the community,
- organises events and outdoors demonstrations.

The CUMA in the world
Many CUMA and federations of CUMA are involved in international partnership with farmers and agricultural and rural organisations. The aim of these cooperations is mainly to assist farmers organizations by exchanges of practices and technical help, to encourage the emergence of local groups of solidarity.
Some CUMA can also be found in Western Europe (Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany,...), in Eastern Europe (Albania, Lithuania, Kosovo...), in Africa (Benin, Chad, Malia...) and in Quebec.
